Posted on Fri, 21 Jul 2023
Question: Hi, please find attached Urine routine report of my son who is 22 months old (please ignore the name and age on the report as it was mistakenly entered by the lab since my father raised the XXXXXXX request) Does the report show Urine Infection? If yes, will he need any medication for the same? I noticed him crying while passing urine a couple of times so just to be on safer side I for the test done. He doesn't cry all the time but sometimes does.

Brief Answer:

Interpretation depends upon the symptoms

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I have gone carefully through your query and have checked the attached report. In the case of interpretation of urinary tract infection (UTI), it depends upon the symptoms.

If there is fever associated, this would be interpreted as UTI but not otherwise.

Your prescribing physician might decide to still go for a round of antibiotics to be on the safer side since the symptom of crying during passing urine, is present. It would, therefore, be best to discuss with him.

In case antibiotics are given, ofloxacin may be given.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
