Is Flow Cytometry An Effective Diagnostic Tool For Detecting Lymphoma?

Question: If you have a Flow Cytometry test performed and it comes back with a reading of Lymphoma does that mean you have Lymphoma?

I am afraid that it means that there is some myeloproliferative disease such as lymphoma or leukemia and this is accurate in around 95% of cases. SOme additional tests can be ordered if there is doubt about the diagnosis but you should ask your hematologist if this is necessary. Wish you good health. Regards

Yes, bone marrow biopsy should be done. It doesnt matter if you cant find lumps since lymph nodes may not be swollen in palpable parts of body,it may be inside the abdomen for example. It can be some less serious type of blood disease or less malignant lymphoma.
