Is Fluctuating BP Levels In A Carotid Artery Disease Patient Normal?
Question: My friend's son has been diagnosed with carotid artery disease, yet his systolic BP was 80 early in the day then went up a bit to 102. That's low BP. Isn't this unusual?

Brief Answer:
yes
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This is unusual since such people usually have higher blood pressure but this is still not concerning BP and may be caused by insufficient fluid intake, certain food, sweating, or emotional stress. Other causes are less common but more serious, and include heart disorders and hormonal imbalance. In every case, it is good that BP is not high but it should be kept above 100. Also, it is very bad sign that such young man has carotid artery stenosis and neurologic cosequances. Carotid surgery should be considered and radical life-habbits changes should be done. Wish you good health. Regards
