Is Flying Safe After Treating Infection In Incision Site?
My wife is pregnant with 6 weeks and yesterday our gynocologist has scolded us to do air travel on August 19th.
She was having cesarean section with my first baby born on 22nd October 2012 and her cesarean area was infected and has to be re-operated after removing pus and restitched.
I have attached all her reports and my questions are as follows:
(1) We will be air travelling on 19th of August which is a 4.30 hour journey to our home country. Do we have to take any extra precautions or medicines. We cannot cancel this journey due to important function in Home country.
(2) Do we have to fear any sort of complications to unborn baby?
(3) Any relevant advice from your expert end.
Awaiting your kind reply,
Thanking you,
XXXX
She can travel.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your wife health care.
Congratulations on her pregnancy!
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns and here are the answers of your questions.
Yes she can safely travel through air, there is no risk to developing foetus and mother.
But yes she should take some precautions -
- She should take a seat which are near to restroom.
- She should keep her well hydrated and do not eat outside food and beverages.
- She should keep some anti nausea medications ( doxinate) with her because during first trimester morning sickness is very common and it is increased during travelling.
-She should take a walk and move her limbs to avoid clot formation which are very common during pregnancy.
Her reports are fine but her haemoglobin is low and she is having thyroid problem.
For low haemoglobin she should take healthy and nutritious diet and take folic acid tablet.
For Hypothyroidism she should continue her medication and repeat her thyroid profile and dose should be regulated accordingly.
Hope found useful, feel free to discuss more information.
Enjoy safe and happy journey.
Good luck.
