Is Having A Big Bruise On Thigh Post Injury A Cause For Concern?

it depends on the symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
an injury on the thigh may result to the formation of blood clots due to the mechanical effects of the swollen injured tissues on the adjacent veins. A superficial vein thrombosis (SVT) causes significant pain and signs like redness and warmth, which can't be ignored by the patient. A deep vein thrombosis (DVT) may cause less blatant symptoms but it may still cause warmth, more swelling, etc.
If you have worsening symptoms then your doctor should first have a look and if suspicion for thrombosis is raised, an ultrasound scan should be done. If there's no clinical suspicion then there's no need for the scan.

Should I ice it or worry
Ok so as long at the pain and swelling is subsiding I will not worry. Can you just tell me the signs I should look for in case of worsening
I've mentioned the most important signs...
Detailed Answer:
If it's getting better everyday then this is against the thrombosis scenario. The thrombosis is not improving so fast. SVT symptoms may take weeks. DVT symptoms may resolve sooner but not so fast. There's always a risk for clot formation still but I don't believe you should worry...
The most important signs have already been mentioned. I'll sum it up for you:
worsening of swelling, pain, redness, warmth, distended veins, perhaps low grade fever. Depending on the location of thrombosis, the symptoms may differ but any of the aforementioned symptoms should raise worries.
