Is Having Sex During Menstruation Safe?
recently I ask the following question :
"Hi, me and my boyfriend had sex with condom and pull out on the first and third day of my period as it was light, after that it continued normally for 3 days with heavy bleeding, then for two days light.
The first day of my last period is 19 XXXXXXX the previous day is 19 May, and now it's 21 of July and my period still didn't come.
Is there any chance that I could be pregnant ? I took urine home test and turned negative, please help I am super worried, at the same time it seems irrational that it could be possible, but some websites say anything is possible, a single sperm can sneak out, it's too scarey I am super worried please help, what is the chance
thanks"
and the doctor said there is no chance of pregnancy and I should not worry.
SInce the period didn't come yet I am still worried. I did another home urine pregnancy test and it came back negative. I feel a bit angry, I deprived myself from sex just to avoid any risks or worries, for three months now me and my bf have sex ONLY the first and second day of my period where the bleeding is light, with condom and pull out, condom put from the beginning before any touching, after that the period continues normally with heavy bleeding for three days then gets lighter for another two or three days.
so therefore we are having sex only two days per month. Since I cannot use other birth control for now and I want to make risk and worried the minimum.
My question is this method really 100% safe, I am really frustrated with all the stories in the internet were some even claim to get pregnant with condom and pull out, I don't know if it just lies, as I can't imagine how it is possible.
My second question is that, if as in my case after the two days of sex, where after I get heavy bleeding as my period is continuing normally, wouldn't that guarantee that whatever improbable sperm that could have escaped, such heavy bleeding will guarantee that everything is flushed out ???? for God's sake
Do you think that my method still hold some probability and I have to make absitance
:(, I am really frustrated and sad, as I did all I could, and some women claim on the internet that the urine test does not become positive until after even two months !!!
it's ridiculous ! are they people who are lying or telling the truth or just miscalculating ?!!
please help I am really worried and I can't live normally during these past days :((
thanks
Absolutely safe.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After going through your elaborate presentation, I feel that you are unnecessarily worried. Intercourse during the menstrual period is the safest way to avoid pregnancy, even without any other protection.
Let me inform you that ovulation, when there is a high chance of pregnancy, occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period. Intercourse around this period can cause conception and hence, this is the fertile window of the cycle. As you are obviously avoiding this, you have no fear of conception at all.
As to the delay in this period, it can happen with stress. You can nevertheless, get a blood test for pregnancy done to assure yourself that you are not pregnant. Please do not read more on the internet, there are several websites that provide information which is nothing more than gossip.
You can see a specialist for further suggestions.
Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

Thanks for your help. Since it is very difficult now to reach a hospital and make a blood test, do you think it is necessary just to worry me less ? or it is because there is like a nonzero chance ?
thanks
Blood test is meant only to allay your fears.

Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
I suggested the blood test only to allay your fears of pregnancy. To check the outcome of an intercourse that happened during the time of menstruation is absolutely unnecessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Please contact if you need any more information. I will be ready to help.
