Brief Answer:
There are no known associations between smoking marijuana and heart disease

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and i hope i can help you today.

There are not many scientific studies that have been performed yet on marijuana, because until recently it was illegal to use in the United States. Since legalization, many studies are underway, however, for now, there is no evidence that smoking marijuana poses the same risks as smoking tobacco for developing heart disease.

It is not recommended that women over 35 years of age who smoke take birth control pills because cigarette smoking combined with the estrogen in birth control pills can worsen coexisting heart disease. However, in your case, because you are under 35 even cigarette smoking would not be a contraindication to taking Lo Loestrin.

So in summary, you do not need to worry about health interactions between your birth control pill and marijuana. However, the long term health effects of regular marijuana smoking is yet to be fully studied regarding risks of heart disease, cancer and lung disease. So no one accurately knows the long term effects it may have on your health later in life.
