Is Heavy Weightlifting Advisable When Diagnosed With An Abdominal Mass?

Question: A CT scan recently found a mass in my abdomen. It is very large consistent with lymphoma. I have an appointment with an oncologist, but it isn't for about a week. My question is: Does Olympic weightlifting, which involves abrupt, violent movement, pose any danger of physically affecting this mass (assuming it's a lymphoma) in such a way as to encourage metastasis?
Brief Answer:
No there is no evidence to support this
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
There is no data show that any physical activity can encourage metastasis. Hence we can't recommend against such activity in a patient suspected to have cancer.
But my personal suggestion is to avoid such strenuous physical activity till the treatment is completed. This is just for peace of mind.
Hope this helps.
