I have gone through your query. Yes herpes 2 tests in XXXXXXX is reliable. HSV Elisa has almost 100 % sensitivity also. If you didn't had a clinical infection and the test is negative twice you are most likely not infected. But the window period is starting from 2 weeks and 6 months. So better to repeat the test after 6 months again.

My reason for worry after 6 years is some itching my wife is complaining about ( not seeming like fungsll)

Itching that your wife complaining can be due to irritation from soaps or detergents or softeners used in undergarments or change in ph. Using intimate wash daily is good for this. Avoid soaps and irritants to wash the genital area. Use just warm water or saline.
