Brief Answer:
Caution is required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting the query on HCM. After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:

1. The only absolute contraindication for hyperbaric oxygen therapy is Pneumothorax.

2. In COPD patient hyperbaric oxygen needs to be administered with caution and very close monitoring since oxygen toxicity can have detrimental effects in such patients. However when deciding it the severity of COPD needs to be taken into acount and a fitness from a Pulmonologist is required prior to oxygen therapy.

I hope I have answered your query. I will be glad to answer follow up queries if any. Please accept my answer if you have no follow up queries.

Hi,
Thanks for the follow up query. After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:

1. HBOT has experimental role in treatment of refractory pain due to fibromyalgia.
Hence dramatic results may not be expected.

2. It is however recommended to get evaluated by the orthopedician in this regard.
