Is Intermittent Pressure In The Center Of The Chest Associated With Heart Problems?
Question: Hi again.
Ny previous question was regarding pressure in chest
Are you able to see that question?
Any way i felt pressure in center of chest, om and off for weeks . Could be when walking, og sitting still.
Doc sent me to hospital. There they took all sorts of bloodwork to rule out angina og any other heart related things like heartattack.
I did ECG blood-gas and stresstest.
All was fine. Got no more pressure from cycling or pain.
Home the next day.
Pressure still comes and goes. But now i also feel i get the pressure while eating dinner, isnt that also a heart related symptom? Should i ask for ct scan of arteries Even og these tests i did were fine?
Also. I have done ultrasound earlier, and ct scan WITHOUT contrast called calciumscore Which was 0.5.

Brief Answer:
Can be gastric in origin.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
There are two possibilities-
1)Either pain is a cardiac-As stress test and previous calcium score was normal chances of it being cardiac are very rare.
2)Gastric issue-Relation of pain to the intake of food could be suggestive of peptic ulcers.
I would suggest you go for a gastroenterology consultation.
Your pains seem not to be cardiac in origin.
Take a proton pump inhibitor like Nexium and see if pain responds to it. Peptic pain usually responds to them.
A gastro consultation would be a good idea.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you. However, as i stated its not pain but pressure. Heavy feeling middle of chest.
Also i get out of Breath very fast, especially from walking uphill or Stairs
But i guess they would see on stress test if arteries were clogged?

Brief Answer:
Follow up.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
The sensitivity of the stress test is more than 85% so again chances of it being cardiac are very less.
We are left with two options
1) Gastric
2) Respiratory
If I were at your treating doctor, I would have gone for the gastric cause.
Heaviness pain, burning etc are the various ways of describing and they tend to vary from person to person.
Again, location in the middle of the chest (around or below sternum) is suggestive of drift towards the gastric issue.
Hope I have answered your query.
