Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Well, after hernia surgery your husband should avoid strenuous physical activity and weight lifting or exercises such as sit-ups or push-ups for 1 month.
The first 2 weeks only walking and non-weight-bearing exercise are recommended.Swimming and water exercises are very good to strengthen the abdominal muscles.
The restriction of the physical activity depends on the type of hernia and the repair done so his treating doctor will advise you with details what exercises he can do and when.
Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any other question.I would be happy to help.
Kind regards,
