Is It Advisable To Take Eliquis After Drinking Wine?
Question: I drank one ounce (I pre-measured it) of red wine to toast the new ;year with my family. I then ate a midnight dinner with them. Because I drank the once ounce of wine, is it safe to take my eliquis?
Brief Answer:
Go ahead and take your usual dose of Eliquis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Recommendations while taking Eliquis are to avoid drinking alcohol because it can increase the chance of gastrointestinal bleeding. However the amount of alcohol you consumed was small and if you are on central standard time like I am, it has been nearly two hours since you had the alcohol. So I would say to go ahead and take your usual dose of Eliquis.
Best wishes for your New Year!
