Is It Advisable To Take Kaopectate For Loose Stool?

Question: My husband has been using kaopectate off and on for a couple of wks. to treat loose,(but not diahhrea) stools that come with gas and brown liquid, he sometimes gets up in the night two to three times. He has seen his physician and has had his stool checked for infection and viral bugs etc. Should he be using the kaopectate for this?
Brief Answer:
Take Imodium.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I'd advice to start giving Azithromycin 500 mg once daily) and Secnidazole 1 gram daily for 3 days. This would eradicate any protozoal or minor infection in the intestine which is not reflected in stool test. These are Prescription based medication and you may need to see a physician locally to obtain the same.
Along with it take Fybrogel husk. It will increase the bulk of his stools. Tab Imodium 4mg stat followed by 2 mg twice daily can be added to control frequency of motions. Along with it, he can continue taking Pepto Bismol. Eat light and easily digestible food.
Regards
Thanks
