Brief Answer:
Biopsy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query

The lesion in the image doesn't look like cancer. Well, by the looks of it erythroplakia a precancerous leasion must be ruled out. This can be done by a biopsy of the lesion. I recommend you visit a oral health specialist or an ENT specialist who can get a biopsy .

Hope, I answered your query

Wishing you good health

If a biopsy comes out benign and negative for any kind of cancer, but the patch doesn't disappear or heal, what does that mean?
Can those ever turn into cancer if it's benign?

Hi,

Thanks for writing back

If biopsy says no cancer, then we can plan a treatment and get rid of the same with medications.

A very few lesion are tagged as precancerous, even they can be treated

I feel like my question wasn't answered. if it is benign or not malignant if it just stays there and doesn't go away or gets bigger can it lead to and turn into cancer if not treated and just left alone.

Brief Answer:
Biopsy gives input

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

A diagnosis even of precancerous condition can be done after a biopsy. Just by the appearance, it would be bery wrong to consider a precancerous leasion.. It could as well be a fibrosis in the mucous membrane which must again be ruled out by biopsy..

Yes, if it is diagnosed as erythroplakia which I am suspecting.. it could turn into cancer if untreated completely.
