Question: Hello Doctor. This is a follow up to my previous query. It's been 4 days since I stopped Duphaston [taken twice a day, 10mg], but I still haven't gotten periods. I wanted to ask, if I don't get my periods till 23rd November, is it okay if I take Primolut N [10mg, twice a day] to delay my periods? is it medically harmful to take Duphaston and Primolut N in the same month?

Brief Answer:
withdrawal bleed

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query,
As you have been started on Duphaston already and you have completed the course then ideally you should wait for 5 to 7 days for your withdrawal bleed to get initiated. its been just 4 days post completion o course.
Se one thing is to keep yourself well hydrated as this would help initiate bleeding sooner else you may experience progesterone side effects like bloating headache, breast tenderness and lower abdominal pain / cramps. 23rd november is long time ahead, till then you should be getting your menses.

And duphaston and primolut n can be initiated in the same month if needed but should be atleast 15 days apart else you may experience heavy menses / irregularities in next 1-2 cycles to add to your pcod issues.
I would recommend just wait for next 5 days for the bleed.
thanks

Hello Doctor, Just to recap my situation: I took Duphaston 10 mg(2 a day) from Oct 7-Oct 12 as it had been 14 days that I didn't have periods [possibly bc in between I had to do a ten day course of Naproxen (3 a day)]. Eventually, I got my periods from 15th-19th Oct. Since I have PCOs, I never get my periods on time. Mostly, there is a gap of 30 days between two cycles. I have special occasions and travel plans from 25th Nov till 10dec. Hence, I wanted to get my periods before or after these dates. I took Duphaston from 5-9 November, 10mg, twice a day. It's been 8 days, and there is no withdrawal bleeding. There has been no sex or anything, so I am not pregnant either. I am extremely stressed about what to do next. I feel the entire purpose of taking the medicine is getting defeated now as I haven't gotten my periods before the dates I wanted. What should I do now? Should I take primolut n to delay my periods? If yes, from which dates and how much dosage? I am concerned that taking two separate hormonal pills in one month might counteract, and I might get heavy bleeding within these dates. Or that, my body will become filled with synthetic hormones and it might just make things worse. Pls tell me what to do?

Brief Answer:
follow up

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the follow up,
if you are concerned that you may be pregnant as you have not received your menses yet, then the next best thing to do would be to get a serum beta hcg test done to rule out pregnancy conclusively and if negative then you can be sure that you are not pregnant and then you can plan for taking progesterone only pills 5 days prior to your vacation and continue it for 5 days post your vacation gets over to avoid any bleeding during the vacation.
I hope this helps.
