Is It Necessary To Consult Orthopaedic Surgeon Regularly When Diagnosed With Clicky Hips?
As a baby she had clicks hips and saw an orthopaedic surgeon who put her in a special harness for 5 months. She has a hip ultr sound and then an x Ray at 18 months.
Should she have another hip X-ray and be seen by an orthopaedic surgeon again now that she is grown up? Also I'm concerned about her bone health as she has signs of poly cystic ovary syndrome and has few periods a year.Should she also see an endocrinologist?
Thanks XXXX
She needs to consult an endocrinologist.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
At the age of 23, all her bones must have developed well by now. If there is no deformity then there is no need to worry. Getting her examined by an orthopedician will remove all your fears.
The polycystic ovaries cause a metabolic disorder and usually do not affect the bone health. It is better to consult an endocrinologist for proper treatment before she develops other problems associated with it like excessive body hairs and excessive weight gain.
I hope this answers your query.
