Is It Necessary To Get Repeat Vaccinations For Every Animal Bite?

Question: I had talked full course of anti rabies injections as on 02.01.2015 for dog bite. Today 15.03.2015 a stray dog had bitten me again. Should I be taking the anti rabies injections again!

Rabies is a disease transmitted from animals to humans, which is caused by a virus. There are two clinical manifestations of rabies frantic and paralytic. The rabies virus invades the nervous system of mammals. It is primarily transmitted from the rabid animal’s saliva when it bites or scratches someone. Licks to wounds or grazed and broken skin.World Health organization guidelines suggests that If a person has been previously fully vaccinated against rabies using a modern rabies vaccine, either for pre-exposure or post-exposure vaccination by IM or ID route, only two doses of vaccines are given on days 0 and 3.
These immunization is advised as there is no protective antibody body levels. So in your case repeat vaccination is needed requiring only 2 doses.

Thank you. I have taken day zero injection. However I am not in a place where I can take day 3 injection . Can I take it on day 7 please!

No don't wait for 7 th day. If due to unavoidable circumstances you cannot take it at 3 rd day take it any as soon as possible even on day 4 or 5 or 6 if possible.
