Question: HI,
My regular period cycle Starts from 27th of every month and is a 27 to 30 days cycle...which fluctuates every month.I had a recent detection of PCOD last year.. since then the period cycle is fluctuating. Last month on 27th march my regular Periods started and lasted for 3 days + last 2 days spotting= 5days. I had a minor session of unprotected sex on 10th day of periods i.e 5th april, where my fiance says he he had not ejaculated in me. But due to unavaoidable tension , i took ipill-72 on the 40th hr. I dint get any withdrawal bleeding but since then i am getting cramps in lower abdominal region. Also thick white discharge was happening in initial 3-4 days after taking i-pill. Its been 11 days after taking i-pil but there has been no bleeding . i still feel cramps and sudden back ache. and sometime still there is white discharge. Can you plese let me know ,
1)wether the pill has worked for me or not.?since i see no regular sideeffects asmentioned.
2) When should i take pregnancy test? do i need to take it now. Since i had no widthdarawl bleeding . My periods are due on 27th april (+/- 3days) or should i wait for my periods to come.
3)Do these emergency contraceptives work for females with PCOD ?

Hello XXXXX

Thanks for asking to healthcaremagic.

I have gone through your questions carefully and understood your concerns..

1)The drug if taken within 72 hrs have favourable results to prevent pregnancy. But no contraceptive is 100% effective to prevent pregnancy. So can't really say whether it has worked...Side effects(withdrawal bleeding, menstrual irregularities for some duration etc) may occur commonly with the ipill but they are not meant to necessarily occur in all women....

2)You need not do the pregnancy test right away and can wait for your menstrual period(i.e on or after 27th) to occur.

3)Yes,emergency contraceptive ipill-72 can also work in PCOD cases .

Hope this clear your doubts.Further queries are welcome..

Regards
