Is It Necessary To Take Rabies Vaccination After Dog Bite?

I had a dog bite in 2012 and completed 5 vaccines of rabipur. I again had a scratch in 2013 may and took 2 booster doses. Same thing happened in 2014 September and 2014 December and both the times I completed booster doses. Yesterday evening I encountered a dog bite.
1. Should I go for two further vaccination?
2. Series.of vaccination I had like one complete course and 4 sets of booster in 2 yrs will keep me immune?
3. I really don't want to suffer over dosage of rabipur.
What should I do now?
Yes 2 dose of rabipur on day 0 and 3

Hi,
Thanks for your query at HCM
I understand your concern.
You have already taken rabipur vaccination in december and even prior to that. But you again had a dog bite and according to international guidelines you again have to take immunization of rabipur 2 shots on 0 and 3 day as it is independent of last immunization interval period. As immunization does not pose such a threat as does rabies disease which carries100%mortality. There is no problem in taking vaccine again.
Was dog vaccinated? Watch the dog for 10 days.
Did you take tetanus vaccination?
Take appropriate precautions and avoid getting bites at such high frequency.

2. If I had a vaccination a week back like January 18th and if I get bitten after 7 days do I still need to follow the protocol?
3./aren't vaccines are made for long term immunity. Do you know how long rabipur gives immunity??
Vaccination is safe even if repeated.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
No there is no problem with vaccination. Immunity post vaccination lasts for about 10 years The normal antibody levels are 6-12 IU/ml in healthy individuals post vaccination. But there is no protective antibody levels for rabies. As rabies has high 100 mortality rate it is better to get vaccinated. You have to get vaccination which is independent of last immunization. Repeated vaccination may cause allergic reactions but these are usually mild. Don't worry as it will limit infection spread.
Take care
