Is It Normal For A 2-month-old Infant To Sleep For 6 To 7 Hours At Night And Lesser And Lesser During The Day?

Question: hi, my daughter s 2 months old...her birth weight was 3.1 and during 6th week vaccination she weighted 4.07...my concern is she doesn't sleep well in daytime .. previously she used to have sound 2-3 hours in the morning bath and then throughout the day she would take multiple 5-10 mins naps .. but lately she s skipping the morning sleep as well..hardly sleeps for 1 hours and then throughout the day naps of 5-10 mins or 30 mins maximum. in the night however she sleeps for 6-7 hours with one break for feeding.. is this normal?? will this sleep patterns effect her growth n development??
Brief Answer:
This sleep pattern is normal for age
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
As baby grows the sleep pattern changes. It matures with age and the night sleep hours increases and day nap decreases. This is called matured circadian rhythm(day night sleep pattern) due to maturity of hormonal system and melatonin hormone. The time for maturity varies from 2 months to 5 months. I won't get worried as this is normal physiological change and does not affect the growth pattern.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
