Is It Normal For A Two Year Old To Be Teary Eyed Without Any Crying?
Question: Hi Doctor,
My Daughter is 2 years old. For the past few months she had been using mobile sometime and watching TV. When I observed her, I saw that her eyes were watery, but it did not roll out as tears. there is a small amount of tears present in both eyes at some times. Is this normal? I have stopped her using mobile and TV and have indulged her in using more toys and play with neighborhood children.
when I was browsing in internet they had mentioned about blocked tear duct, but the cases shown were having tears rolling down all the time. In my case, the water is formed every now and then and not all the time. Kindly let me know on what has to be done?

Please upload some images please

Hi,
Eye conditions are best diagnosed only after seeing directly. I suggest you to upload photographs of the same on this website, here, so that I can guide you scientifically.
Please revert back to me with images so that I can guide you better.
Please make sure that the kid's eyes are open and the film of tears in her eyes be captured so that I can take a call on what you are describing.

Brief Answer:
We need to consider nasolacrimal duct blockage
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
There is a tear film in both eyes and I feel that there is blockage of nasolacrimal duct on both sides. I suggest that you consult her ophthalmologist as there is an office procedure called - probing - which will be done and the blockage will be relieved.
I wish your kid a great future ahead. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help.

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for your advice.I visited an Ophthalmologist in an Eye hospital and she suggested that until there is continous flow of tears or reddishness, it is of no issue as of now.She also said that the duct may not have opened fully and if so treatment can be taken only when she is 4 years old.
