Is It Normal To Have Irregular Or Shorter Periods After A Miscarriage?
Question: Hi, I had a miscarriage in january. Baby was 6 weeks miscarriage happened at 8 wks. I bled for about 11 days and then 14 days later got a period (25 day cycle). Then I had a short cycle that only lasted 19 days. I am trying to get pregnant. I just turned 40 and have 5 kids already. Should I be concerned about the short menstrual cycle? Prior to miscarriage I had regular 28-29 day cycles with positive LH surge. My last delivery was 2 years ago at age 38. Thanks
Brief Answer:
No need to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
After a miscarriage, it is normal to have irregular or shorter periods for the next 2-3 cycles. After a miscarriage, it is best to wait for at least 4-06 months before planning for the next pregnancy so that your body gets time to heal well.
Just wait for the next 1-2 cycles and in case the cycles are shorter then get oral hormonal pills prescribed by your gynecologist to regularize the periods. Your ovulation will return to normal once the periods become regular.
I hope this answers your query.
