Is It Not My Right To Get My Pre-surgery Scan From Hospital

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Dec 2024
Question: I underwent a Mandibular Osteoplasty on 26th Feb, 2021. I was given a pre-surgery scan before surgery. Recently, when I visited an another doctor to compare my pre-surgery scan with post-surgery scan , we found out that the pre-surgery scan CD was blank. I have started having severe mental issues after that. Could you please inform me about my rights as a patient. Is it not my right to get my pre-surgery scan from hospital. I have been sending them multiple emails but they don't reply.

Brief Answer:
You have right to access your scans

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Patient has right to access his medical records including scans. So it is your right to get your pre-surgery scan from hospital. You have only been sending emails. Many times e-mails are not even read by required authority. I will suggest that you personally visit the radiology department and get a copy of your scans, reports, medical records etc.
Regarding legal notice you can consult a lawyer and proceed.
