Is It Not Safe To Use Corn Starch For Diaper Rash?
Question: I just read on a blog about uses for corn starch and it said not to use it on babies for diaper rash. Is there a reason for that? When my children were babies you could buy baby powder with corn starch, and I am currently using straight corn starch on a baby who is prone to getting diaper rash and it works great! Is it a health issue?
Brief Answer:
It makes worse the diaper rash which is caused by Candida infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for using HCM,
I read carefully your question and understand your concern.
Corn starch is not recommended to be used anymore, because it keeps the humidity and makes the diaper rash which is infected by a fungal infection called Candida, worse.
Also, it need to be put very carefully, because the small particles which are spread when sprinkled, may be inhaled by the baby lungs and cause problems.
These are mainly the causes why it is not recommended to use anymore.
Hope this is helpful
Let me know if you need any more clarification. I would be happy to answer.
