Is It Ok To Apply Voltaren Gel For Tooth?
Question: Hello. I had some dental bridge work done which took 1 hour. Then same day evening I had a root canal done where the mouth had to be opened extensively. In root canal doctor also had to give a nerve block. It is now 2 weeks. When I open my mouth very significantly or when I yawn, there is significant pain in my jaw.
1) I applied some voltaren gel on my jaw and that helped. Is it ok to apply voltaren gel.
2) Is it ok to have this pain after 2 weeks.
3)What else should I do.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Pain after 2 weeks needs to be checked.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for the query.
Well although you opened the mouth for a longer time bit still the pain should hsve subsided by now.
Can you please tell me that where is the pain exactly located, like is it over the entire jaw on both left snd right side?
Is the pain more significant in the area in front of the ear over thr cheek?
Is there any clicking sound on opening and closing the jaw?
Do you experience any swelling or numbness over the jaw/cheek?
Please write back.
Thanks

Thank you for your response.
Pain starts about 1 inch below the left ear. It extends for another 1 inch. Pain is only on left side as root canal was only on left side.
There is no pain in front of the ear over the cheek.
There is no clicking sound on opening or closing the jaw.
There is no swelling or numbness.
Pain comes when yawning mostly.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Get an x ray done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for writing back.
Well, the pain can be tooth related.
However an x ray is a must to rule out the exact cause.
If pain is occuring on yawning specifically then jaw joint also needs to be checked.
So please get an x ray done.
Thanks
