Ascoril d continue as follows
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It is about understanding these medicines:
Ascoril ls contains salbuamol that causes bronchodilation and amroxol breaks down mucus.
Ascoril D contains dextromethorphan that suppresses cough center in brain, triprolidine is antiallergic for runny nose, and phenylephrine is nasal decongestant.
Azee is an antibiotic.
Treatment of cold and cough is mostly symptomatic. I don't think she has a bacterial infection and would need antibiotic. Fever and greenish sputum are seen in bacterial infection. If bacterial infection is suspected, best is to first do culture and sensitivity of sputum and then start antibiotic according to sensitivity reports.
I would have prescribed the following:
- Syrup Asthalin half tsp before sleeping (for wheeze)
- Syrup Cetirizine half tsp for runny nose as and when required up to 2 times a day
- Syrup Cosome 1.25 ml during night only when cough is bad (to suppress cough + anti-allergic + decongestant). When giving cosome, avoid Cetirizine as both are antiallergics.
