Brief Answer:
Simple flu like illness with mild fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Though typhoid can occur any time once occurred but sore throat is never a part of typhoid fever.

Additionally the fever high grade is present in typhoid fever that is of more than 101 F and not below 100 F.

In typhoid fever there are mainly gastrointestinal symptoms such as pain abdomen, loss of appetite and diarrhea or related symptoms.

Stomach ache can be just a part of usual illness so I don't think it is related to typhoid fever.

Eat light food and do not eat anything spicy or heavy.

Sore throat is never a part of typhoid so I don't think that your present fever is related to typhoid. It appears to be simple flu like illness with mild fever so do not worry.

In my patients with your kind of illness I prefer to give oral antibiotic such as azithromycin 500mg once a day for three days. Additionally I prefer to give an antipyretic such as paracetamol for two times a day.

A bed rest of one or two days gives early recovery and best relief.

I hope this information will relax you regarding typhoid fever.

I wish you early recovery form the problem.

With regards,

Hello doctor, yes the fever is not very high, but the GI symptoms are as you describe them. My doctor after detailed examination of abdominal area has prescribed Kefpod AZ 250mg BD, Nizonide 500 OD and paracetamol for a week. More than anything it is the weakness, feeling of sickness and even head swimming that is most irritating

Brief Answer:
Take proper bed rest and continue antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again and thanks for posting your follow up.

Your doctor has preceded you a very good regimen o treatment and therefore mist follow the same.

In case if you are worried about typhoid then can go for tests for the same. The are certain blood tests which can confirm presence or absence of typhoid.

In any case your antibiotics are sufficient enough to treat any infection including typhoid.

The other of the symptoms are quite usual with all infections and can be better by proper bed rest and time.

Do not worry you will be alright soon even if it is typhoid.

My all best wishes for early and best recovery.

With regards,

Dr Sanjay Kanodia
