Is It Possible That Over A Period Of Time While Taking Supplement I Developed Loose Bowel Movements?

Question: Hello Dr. Biswas. Is it possible that over a period of time while taking Lisinopril 19mg as well as a supplement of Magnesium Aspartate with potassium Aspartate I developed loose bowel movements that my stool test showed was not gastroenteritis? I stayed off the supplement as things improved but now resumed the mag/potassium supplement for a couple of days, and had loose bowel movement today. I have been taking the supplement in the past while using lisinopril with no problem.

Thank you. I was taking the supplement while on Lisinopril 10 mg (as a muscle relaxer with potassium) for a couple of months before the loose stools began. Is it an effect that would take that long to occur?

The supplement contains a total of 300 mg of Magnesium Aspartate per day and 300 mg of Potassium Aspartate per day. Would that amount of magnesium accumulate to interact with Lisinopril 10 mg per day to start giving me loose stools after using them for a period of 2 months? Thank you.

No interaction with lisinopril

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question, I understand your concern.
Magnesium itself can lead to loose stool.
No significant interaction with lisinopril.
I hope your query is clear now.
Thanks and regards

Does that mean that the loose stool should arise soon after starting to take 300 mg per day of magnesium? Because in my case I was taking the magnesium for several months with NO onset of the loose stool, which seems strange unless it was associated with the Lisinopril which began only two months ago.

Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question, I understand your concern.
Actually there is no interaction between lisinopril and magnesium at all.
Now why there was no loose stool previously and why now, that should be investigated.
Need further investigation and evaluation.
But there is no issue of lisinopril and magnesium interaction at all.
I hope your query is clear now.
Thanks and regards
