Is It Possible To Acquire TB From The Usage Of A Public Toilet?
Since today due to overheat, my stomach was upset so used the public toilet for excreta.
I have concern that, can TB infection occur while using public toilet, since it was emergency I can't control I used it,
Normally they maintain it OK,
But my question is can TB be infected in public toilet as people come. While I was there I confirm that no body coughed or sneezed.
My question how long can TB bacteria active in public toilet, if at all one is coughed or sneezed in the toilet. But has left after coughing or sneezing
Person left means no physical presence of anybody who is having Tb
As I said I can confirm nobody was coughing or sneezing
It's unlikely to acquire TB from the usage of a public toilet.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As per your clinical narration, the risk of acquiring Tuberculosis from the usage of the public toilet once is almost zero.
Tuberculosis is predominantly acquired by a respiratory source like aerosol or droplet inhalation from the infected person harbouring the bacteria.
The likelihood of survival of TB bacteria outside the human body in the zone of public toilets is extremely unlikely or less than a few minutes. TB bacilli require high levels of oxygen concentration for their survival. Such an atmosphere is only provided by lungs.
Hope I have answered your query.
