Brief Answer:
it is possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic .

Yes it is possible to control (change) sugar levels in 4 days by metformin. They act around 30mins after taking it. And also your initial levels were not so high.

One thing I want to highlight is just with random sugar levels metformin is not started . If random sugar is high then usually we get fasting and post food sugar levels. We use those values to ascertain presence of diabetes.

Also if it is mild then only diet and exercise would be advised. If high then tablets will be started. You may discuss this with your doctor.

If you have doubt on lab then you may leave metformin and after one week get your fasting and post food sugar levels.

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help.

Dear Doctor,

Thanks for your advice, I have tested in Lalpath labs (One of the reputed lab in India) after a week and I found below readings:
Fasting : 100 Post food reading: 128. Then I left metformin and started excercises and diet control. Do you think I am a diabetic. If yes kindly advise further.

Brief Answer:
borderline diabetic

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Sir,

Good to hear from you again. Your fasting blood sugar is more but post food is correct.

Fasting blood sugar should be less then 90 . You have borderline diabetes. This may be controlled by diet and exercise.

I suggest you to continue diet and exercise and repeat the sugar levels after 15days to see the levels. If fasting reduced below 90 and post food less then 140 then you may just continue diet and exercise .

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help.

Regards
Dr.Deepika Patil
