Is It Possible To Detect Genital Herpes During Colposcopy?
Question: is it possible for an obgyn to look at your cervix during a colposcopy and see that you have a history of genital herpes? would he notify you?
I had an abnormal pap recently but he suggested nothing verbally at the time.
I asked for my records and reading over them I noticed he had made a note that I have an hx of herpes genitalis. I have never had an ob. I had a negative blood test when I was tested for hsv2.
stressed and d confuses and doctor never available to help.

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.
No. Unless and until your doctor saw characteristic erosions/ ulcers of genital herpes at the time of colposcopic examination Or if you mentioned it yourself to him.

is this something he would mention if he saw it during the procedure? I guess would it be something to be mentioned if I never mentioned any history whatsoever?
Brief Answer:
Enquire specifically about herpes from your doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes, he should have mentioned this specifically to you and also should have taken history regarding herpes, if he did notice any erosions or sores suggestive of genital herpes.

actually I have one more question. if I took an hsv1 and hsv2 blood test exactly 10 weeks after possible transmission, do you recommend retaking these tests. I have still had no outbreaks but I want to be as safe as possible.
Brief Answer:
There is no need to repeat blood test for herpes
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Ten weeks after a possible herpes transmission is adequate time for blood to have detectable circulating antibodies against the virus.
Therefore if your blood test for herpes was negative at 10 weeks there is really no need for you to repeat the test, unless it was an equivocal test result.
