Is It Possible To Get Pregnant Post Unprotected Sex Despite Having Plan B?

default
Posted on Sat, 5 Sep 2015
Question: Hi, I had unprotected sex last week on August 12th (Wednesday) and took plan b one step on the 14th (Friday). My period is due this week and I've been feeling nauseous everyday since this weekend and I've had a few dizzy spells. My breasts have started to become a little sore, and I've been having trouble sleeping because of the stress of maybe being pregnant. I don't know if I was ovulating at the time.

Brief Answer:
I need to know the date of your last period

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

Can you please tell the date of your last period?

The plan b is effective until 89% if taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex.
As you took within the first 48 hours, you can feel protected from unwanted pregnancy.

Your actual symptoms might be related to upcoming periods as it us too early to talk about a possible pregnancy.

LooLooking forward to have the date of your last period in.

My last period was on July 20th
Since I took the pill so close to my period, when can I expect it to come now? My period is always regular (normally a 28-30 day cycle).

Brief Answer:
No pregnancy, periods will come in a few days.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

If your period is regular and the last one was July 20th, then August 17th you're supposed to expect your periods.
Ovulation might have occurred from August 1st to 5th.

The effect of the pill is to postpone the date of ovulation (you already had passed before unprotected sex )
The other effect is to prevent laying of fertilized egg in the uterus (that is not possible in your case).

You'll have your periods in a few days, don't worry. Just relax and wait for your periods to come .

Okay thank you so so much for your time. I have a tendency to over react and I know I'm doing that now!

Hi back,

Yes, most probably you are over reacting and you do not have any reason.
