Is It Possible To Strengthen Weak Sphincter?

Please see detailed answer
Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.
1. The anal sphincter may become weak due to damage to muscle or nerve. Few cause that cause are childbirth, Crohn's disease, Trauma, Diabetes, Spinal cord injury, aging and many a times there may be no reason.
2. There is one exercise which may help in strengthening the sphincter: 1.Squeeze your sphincter as if you are trying to avoid passing gas 2.tighten your muscles in the way as if you are trying to stop urine in mid-flow. After you practice these two movements separately, combine them by starting the first movement and holding it while initiating the second movement. Once you completely tighten your muscles, keep them contracted for a few seconds, then fully release the contraction before starting over again.
If the sphincter is very weak then it may cause stool incontinence that is stool may pass out without having control on it.
3. No, hemorrhoids do not lead to weakness of sphincter. Also hemorrhoids are not treated till they become symptomatic in form of bleeding or prolapse.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Wish you a good health. If you have further query I will like to answer that too.

I will do the exercises you suggest.
Will that solve the problem?
Also is the weak spincter common and does it necessarily have to cause me a problem? He suggested fiber - will that help?
Thanks so much

Only if it is very weak, it may cause faecal incontinence, otherwise it will not cause any problem
Fibres taken with curd may help
