Is It Recommended For Severe Anxiety Xanax And Klonopin To Take Daily

Question: Due to severe anxiety, my doctor has prescribed both xanax and Klonopin to take daily but both in very low dose and at different times of the day. Is this safe to take these two meds in the same day? Have been taking both same day for a long time now with no ill effects yet want to get your feedback on this... Thanks so much.

Hi, doctor. Dose is .5 of xanax in morning and .5 of klonopin at night. My family doctor prescribed these due to going to a team of doctors over past year - gyno, neurologist, urologist to try to solve an issue I am sure where the answer is best suited to your professional opinion since I have a history of neuralgia and nerve issues. Symptoms are constant urge to urintate, often with an empty bladder - very uncomfortable. Neurologist believes it is
neurogenic bladder and prescribed Lyrica (150 mg per day in divided dose) but has not helped.
Of course, have tried all the OAB meds - oxybutin, vesicare, Gemstra - they do nothing. This is definitely a nerve issue. Could u please give me any feedback on how to get some relief - any meds to suggest, procedures to try, anything to calm the nerves that control bladder/genital.

Hello,
Thanks for follow up.
In regard to your first question my answer is "both medications can be used in current dose provided there is need for same." Generally speaking we prefer to prescribe only one medicine at a time or if possible avoid prescription of benzodiazepines.
Since benzodiazepines are working well for you, it is possible that the anxiety component was the cause for initial symptoms.
Considering all the history and medication details I feel we can add SNRI to your prescription and over the time benzodiazepines can be tapered off in gradual manner.
However for definite recommendation there is need for details evaluation.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards
