Is It Safe To Be Around Children Who Are Diagnosed With Scabies 2 Months Ago?
scabies
Detailed Answer:
Hi!
Welcome to health care magic!
I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.
As your history is suggestive, you have the idea about scabies being contagious, and you have took fair bit of measures in your sons regarding that.
Few things which need clarification here, is that as the boy who had it first, was 2 months ago and he has recovered from it, as far as I could interpret. So rest assured that after two months, he is well over the contagious period for scabies.
But for further reassurance, you need all his clothing and bedding to be done with laundry and then keep them in direct sunlight for three days during day time. This will kill larvae, if any one left.
For rest of the family, if somebody has got itching which is generalised, along with furrows, and all signs suggestive of scabies, so along with treatment with kalamine or benzyl benzoate lotions, other measures stay the same. That is to separate him or her, during first week, from rest if the family, to a separate bed, or room if possible, and apply lotion twice daily after baths avoiding sensitive areas of skin. After each bath make sure, to change the clothing and immediately wash the first clothing and then follow the protocol of drying up in direct sunlight.
Meanwhile for rest of the family, the bedding, matrices and other removal covers should also be subjected to same if easily possible, to get rid of it once and forever.
Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me maximum before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.
further clarification
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Our immune systems responds differently, when exposed to some pathogenic organisms. Those having strong immune system remain resistant, while others catch disease more quickly. Also that amount and degree of exposure varies from each incidence, so it is quite possible those two have slept or interacted in the places where bug larvae were present and they happen to catch it but others remained safe.
Hope it has cleared out with all the efforts you have done. You seem like a very caring mother with the way, you had shown concerns for the well being of your family.
Stay healthy, and please don't forget to leave a review and rating generously before closing the discussion, as it is a source of encouragement. Regards.
closing remarks
Detailed Answer:
Hi! It is sad to know what you have to go through. Hope you will be well on recovery phase and being asymptomatic for toxoplasmosis. Hope the steroids you have been prescribed must have been used along with antibiotic and anti protozoal medications. By now you must have had adequate knowledge about your disease and all the precautionary measures relating to that in future and in your kids as well.
Though not needed to be mentioned again, still, please rate me generously before closing, regards.
toxoplasmosis coverage
Detailed Answer:
Hi! It would have been more appreciable if you had shared the names of the medication you have been put on.
In general, as you already know that steroids create immunodeficiency state and can trigger toxoplasmosis spread to eyes.
Normally it is advisable that antibiotics along with anti protozoal like pyrimethamine or atovaquone are given, which limit disease spread during pulse of steroids.
medicine analysis
Detailed Answer:
Hi! You are absolutely right. But If doctor has not prescribed you that, I am sure he would be having a pretty good reason for that. Offcourse whoever has all your history in front of him, and is following you in those years, and have examined you in detail must be having pretty good reason for that.
Pyremethamine or atovaquione are normally two anti toxoplasmosis gondii drugs which are normally given along with steroids in those having eye signs on examination. If there is not significant findings in eye, then it can left out of the equation for a while. But on your next planned visit do discus about these in detail.
eye diseases in toxoplasmosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi! If the eye disease is already proven, and damage isn't irreversible yet. Try to speed up the appointment in that case, clindamycin along with steroids in that case may not be sufficient and you may need pyremethamine too.
