Is It Safe To Eat Sweet Potatoes During Pregnancy?
My wife is pregnant age (27).She is 9-weeks so far.
I've couple of questions regarding the in-take food like Sweet Potatoes,Eggs and Figs (Anjeer) along with penatal vitamins prescribed by doctor OBGYN.
Sweet Potatoes : Right now my wife is eating cooked (boiled) half sweet potatoe alternative days, Is it safe to have sweet Potatoes so regularly?
Figs : I've read some article in Online about figs, It says that figs fruit or dried figs (Anjeer) are good for pregnant women. Would like to know if figs are really good for both mother and growing baby? if so how regulary and how many do we need to consume the figs.
Eggs : Is it safe to consume whole egg(Once a week) and Egg whites(Every day) in 9-week of pregnany?
Please helup us.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for contacting health care magic.
Well at 9 weeks of pregnancy , no special diet is required. Its just that balance diet is required. One thing you must understand, the growing fetus would take the nourishment from the mother and the major periods of requirement is the second and the third trimester.
so in first trimester , she should take normal diet, moreover, the nausea and distaste would probably not let her eat much of fancy foods as well, so pleae dont worry. The taste and nausea would improve by second trimester and then she can be given figs and eggs ( preferably the white removing the yolk).
Though sweet potatoes are not recommended everyday as sugar levels in pregancy have to be controlled. so avoid sweet potatoes in first trimester. she can have eggs( 1 or 2 ) twice a week and as far as figs are concerned ..2-3 in day in fine in first trimester.
Include a glass of milk daily in the diet apart from regular folic acid tab daily.
