Is It Safe To Have Acetaminophen Along With Alcohol?
Question: I hac been taking 325mg of acetaminophen 4 times daily the last 4 days for a cold, with only 325mg taken 10 hours ago. How long should I wait before having an alcoholic drink? Im a health 47 year old male with no previous history of liver problems, i usually have 2-3 drinks per night (although i havent drank in 5 days)
Brief Answer:
I would say wait 24hours!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
Acetaminophen and alcohol together is not good for the liver. I will recommend you stay at leaf 24hours before taking any alcoholic drink. Remember excess alcohol is not good for health. If you must drink, do so in moderation.
I hope this helps. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Hi Doc, i did have a few drinks last night. Having some dull right side pain today. Should i be concerned? No other symptoms except slighty tired. What is the timeframe where i can be comfortable knowing no liver damage is happening? I didnt know that daily alcohol use, even when abstained during acetaminophen consumption caused problems.
Brief Answer:
I advised against this!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I had advised against this but you never heeded to my advice. I hope nothing happens but there is no clear timeframe that can be issued here. In most cases, nothing may happen but until then, we have to stay with crossed fingers and hope for the best.
I wish you well.
