Is It Safe To Have Bromelain Before Facelift Surgery?
Question: I am a 58 year old male, non smoker and jog daily. I am having a endoscopic brow lift, deep plane facelift and a neck lift on the 13th September 2014. Is it safe to take 500mg of Bromelain twice daily and Arnica XXXXXXX 6x, 4 tablets 3 times per day before the surgery, if yes when should i start. Some websites say it causes bleeding? I also take velvet bean 3 x 120mg of l - dopa daily for a very slight essential head tremor, is it safe to keep on taking that before the surgery, i have also read that it causes bleeding?
Brief Answer:
no clinical trials to prove the same
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have read your query. I see that there are no clinical trials done to prove the same about Bromelain or Arnica XXXXXXX for that matter. Same is the case with Velvet bean.
There are no sufficient medical data to prove their efficacy. Hence I suggest that you not take them all.
And yes, you can continue to take L-dopa, no harm in that. It does not cause bleeding.
Take care and wish you good luck for the surgeries.

Brief Answer:
take supplements after surgery
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
It is only after the surgery that you would require supplements, and not before it.
I would suggest you to take a tablet of vitamin C daily from the day of your surgery for a minimum of 3 weeks. In XXXXXXX it comes with the brand name Limcee.
Other than this, you can take a capsule of Cod liver oil and vitamin E supplement daily for faster healing and anti-oxidant properties of the same.

Brief Answer:
Stop it one day before the surgery
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
You can take Mebeverine up to just one day before the surgery. Stop it a day before the surgery because as part of pre-anesthetic evaluation and medications, you would be given atropine to relax the intestines.
Wish you good luck.
Take care!
