Is It Safe To Have Z-pak For Sinus Infection?
complete the present prescription of Cefuroxime
Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms XXXXXX,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.com and thank you very much for posting your query here.
I have gone through your question and your attached prescription and understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should first complete the present prescription of Cefuroxime Axetil 500mg.
For symptomatic relief you can take tylenol cold or any other over the counter cold medicine that contains phenylephrine, pheniramine/cetrizine.
If your symptoms do not subside even after the completion of the course of antibiotic prescribed to you, then you would require a throat swab and culture and sensitivity to find out the type of bacteria that is causing the infection.
Based on that report, proper antibiotics like azithromycin or levofloxacin can be advised.
However, we on this forum will not be able to write you prescription as it is not the right thing to do without physically examining you.
I sincerely hope this information is of some help to you.
Kindly do write back if you have any doubts.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Kind regards
I apologize for not being able to prescribe you medicines at this time.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms XXXXX,
I am sorry to say that we do not prescribe medicines online, all scheduled medicines can only be prescribe upon physical exam.
It is a bit worrying that you have seen no improvement with the current medications. But if it is viral infection, then it would be expected. Viral infections do not get better with antibiotics unfortunately.
You should do steam inhalation 4 times a day,
Do salt water gargling 3 times a day,
Drink hot chicken soup (It is one of the home remedies that actually works for cold).
If you also have fever along with the cold, then tylenol cold or any similar over the counter medicine (Not herbal or homeopathic remedies, but medicines such as paracetamol, phenylephrine and cetrizine) will most certainly help reduce the severity of symptoms.
And, finally, if you do not see any improvement in another day, I would recommend consulting your doctor again for a complete evaluation and prescription of antibiotics like azithromycin or levofloxacin.
Some times the infection is caused by bacteria that are resistant to the first line of antibiotics in which case, the antibiotics that are routinely prescribed will not work, hence will require proper testing (throat swab culture and sensitivity) and prescription of antibiotics to which the bacteria is sensitive.
I hope this will further help you understand your problem.
Thank you once again for trusting us and I offer my sincere apologies for not being able to write you a prescription.
Best regards
