Is It Safe To Have Follicular Study While Trying To Conceive?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: Hi, I've been trying to get pregnant for the past 2 months but nothing fruitful has happened. Im not sure whether I'm timing intercourse properly or not. My doctor has prescribed fertisure and goodova plus. She has also prescribed a follicle study from day 10. Is it safe to do a follicle study when trying to conceive. Can the rays of ultrasound be harmful to the follicle?

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound is safe

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Ultrasound rays are totally safe for both follicle and baby and thus nothing to worry about that.
Both medicines are good and routinely prescribed and assist in conception definitely.
You can try following measures to enhance the chances of conception -
1) try to keep a pillow beneath your buttocks after sex so that gravitational force keeps the semen inside Vagina for a longer time.
2) you should not get up for at least 20-25 minutes
3) try conventional position of sex female lying down on bed
4) maximum chances of conception are in day 10-18 of the cycle in case you have regular cycles.
I hope these measures will help you in conception in near future.
I basically practice infertility so in case you have any questions in future I will be glad to help

Thanks for your response doctor. Could you also guide me about the timing of having sex, whether in morning, during the day and night. What time during the entire day is the highest chances of conceiving? Also I've heard about monitoring the cervical mucus before ovulation. How do I best monitor that? Bow are my dates of periods during the last couple of months.

Brief Answer:
Ovulation prediction kits

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX you have very nice and regular cycle and thus high chances of spontaneous conception.
Instead of cervical mucus study which is a very non specific and indirect indication of ovulation, opt for ovulation kits easily available at chemist shops.
Take the kit and test it with morning sample of urine from day 12 to day 16 and the day it will show positive test, indulge in intercourse and thus high chances of conception.
There is no specific time but in case done at night time there are more chances of semen staying inside vagina and thus higher chances of conception.
