Is It Safe To Have Instant Noodles During Pregnancy ?
Question: Is it safe to have instant noodles (maggie noodles) during pregnancy
What about the fruits that should be avoided, even beverages (like tea)
Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query.
The most important advice for pregnant women is to avoid unwashed and unpasteurised vegetable and fruits during pregnancy. It is critical that food hygiene is given primal importance during pregnancy to avoid infections from toxoplasmosis.
Fruits and vegetables should be an integral part of every pregnancy diet. However, one must exercise caution and avoid eating some of them such as pineapples in first trimester and papaya in third trimester in excess in order to avoid any complication during pregnancy.
Grapes, dates and mangoes are also avoided in pregnancy.
As far tea is concerned I think the main concern would be caffeine intake. People are going to give you different opinions, but as long as it is in moderation, it should be fine. If you want to be really safe, you can avoid caffeine during the first trimester, especially.
Better drink a lot of chinese tea but avoid eating Chinese food (the ones that is dished out in restaurants & eating joints) and also other junk and fried foods.
However once in a while and in moderation, you can take these so called BANNED foods. If you take them, heavens are not going to fall.
I hope I am clear and you can revert to me for any other query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Hi Doctor,
Thanks for the information. It is indeed helpful.
As Of Now, I am planning to go 1005 raw (vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds and soyabean milk, sprouts and soaked wheat) as I have heard raw diet is far superior than the cooked counterpart. I hope it is safe to go raw at this time it is my first trimster.

Hello XXXXXXX
Fortunately, raw vegetables are generally safe to eat during pregnancy as long as you follow the proper procedures to protect you and your growing child.
Vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals that will help your baby thrive. Furthermore, most vegetables have a healthy dose of fiber that naturally eases the uncomfortable constipation you may feel at various times throughout your pregnancy.
Foodborne illnesses are a major concern during pregnancy due to the possible harm a severe infection can do to your baby. Raw vegetables pose a problem because they are not brought up to a sterilizing temperature and are often kept moist, making a XXXXXXX that bacteria and disease can thrive in. It is possible, that your baby will be born with a foodborne illness such as listeria if you eat contaminated raw vegetables.
To avoid a foodborne illness from the vegetables you eat, wash every raw veggie that passes through your lips. This includes pre-rinsed vegetables like packaged salads and baby carrots. You can wash most vegetables by running tap water over the produce and scrubbing it by hand. You should scrub vegetables covered with a waxy coat and potatoes with a brush while rinsing. Lettuce and leafy bunches may take a bit more care. Scientists and doctors suggests peeling back several layers of leaves and washing continually until all visible dirt is gone.
Washing your vegetables thoroughly will help protect you against certain bacteria found in the dirt that vegetables grow in. However, many foodborne illnesses are the result of raw meats infecting your raw vegetables during a meal preparation. To avoid this kind of cross-contamination, store your raw meat in a plastic bag and in a place where it will not drip on your produce.( if you are non vegetarian ).While making food, wash your hands and work surfaces often with hot water and soap.
Thanks
