Is It Safe To Open The Macrobid Capsule And Consume It For UTI?
Question: Hello, I am taking Macrobid for a UTI, and have trouble swallowing capsules, can I open the capsule and take it in food or something? Thank you.

Unfortunately macrobid is not one of the medications that can be used in this way.
They are supposed to be taken whole and not opened, crushed or chewed.
It can alter the release of the medication into the body and its effectiveness.
There are a number of persons that have difficulty taking some types of medications.
If it is very difficult to tolerate then you may need to consider another medication that may not come in capsular form and easier for you to use.
