Is It Safe To Smoke Marijuana Before Going To Bed?
Marijuana alters the sleep cycle in a negative way
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.
Marijuana is well known to alter the sleep cycle. It has been found that Marijuana can increase the proportion of light sleep and decrease the relative proportion of deep sleep in your sleep cycle. This means that even though it may help in initiation of sleep, it can cause you a disturbance in sleep later on in the night. So, if you take a few puffs before going to bed, it may help you fall asleep easily, but it may cause you to wake up after a few hours and feel groggy. This is not good in the long run because a good proportion of deep sleep is required in your sleep cycle and if this proportion is altered, it can result in chronic sleep deprivation. So, it wouldn't be a good idea to try Marijuana as an agent to help you sleep better.
