Is It Safe To Start 200mcg Synthroid Without Any Check Up?
Question: I was taking 200mcg daily, stopped it due to loss of job, insurance 3 months ago. Can I start back on the 200mcg without lab tests?

Noted your concern. It is ideal to check TSH and start on medicines. But in your situation, you may start back on the previous dose. However, at your age, when you restart meicines, start with 50 mcg first and after 10 days go up on the dose to 100 mcg and slowly over a period of one month, increase to 200 mcg daily.
Once you have reached 200 mcg dose, recheck TSH after 6 weeks.
