Question: I have had my diagnosis of cll confirmed by my haematologist I am also on HRT, aside from a few a couple of slightly swollen nodes I feel well, tried to stop the HRT, but hot flushes at night stopped me sleeping. Is it ok to take hrt with cll.
Brief Answer:
HRT
Detailed Answer:
I am sorry to note your CLL.
In general, there is no direct problem between CLL and taking HRT. However, please ask your hematologist if the type of CLL you have would make you prone to having 'venous thrombo-embolic phenomena'. Essentially this implies whether or not you have a tendency to develop clots in your veins in various parts of your body, many of which can be XXXXXXX
If the answer is yes, then HRT is best avoided as it increases the risk for such events.
Smoking further elevates the risk of such episodes.
If these two major risk factors are absent and you have no past history of such clots, then HRT is a relatively safe and effective option in controlling hot flashes.
