Is It Safe To Take Melatonin While On Carvedilol?
Question: I am a 73 year old male with an artificial aortic valve (TAVR) 3/2017. My cardiologist has me on 6.25mg of carvedilol, and during my recent followup appointment he almost took me down in dosage. BP 122/68. My question is: Is it safe to take melotonin? I am absolutely convinced I am the poster boy for REM sleep disorder. Thank you, Doctor.
Brief Answer:
Yes you can take Melatonin
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir
After going through your medical details I understand your concern for your health and I would like to tell you that yes you can take melatonin for short period of time like for 4 weeks and after that you can discuss it with your physician to stop or continue the drug according to your symptoms.
Your blood pressure is Borderline lower side that is why your cardiologist has reduced the dose of carvidelol. Continue with currently advised dose and keep monitoring your blood pressure and consult your cardiologist if it goes lower than this.
Hope to have been helpful
