I m only taking calpol twice daily but not getting results. I m avoiding other medicines because I m already taking so many bp medicines. Telma ct forte , pantacid, metrolametrolar xr 200, cilacar 5 and atarax 10 from last one year.

Brief Answer:
?Viral fever along with pre-existing hypertension on drugs

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Zocef (Cefuroxime 250mg ) is an antibiotic-sometimes given in viral infection if there is suspicion of secondary infection.
Neoloridin 5mg (Desloratadine) is an antihistaminic ,again common in combination drug for common cold/viral fever.

Neither Cefuroxime nor Desloratadine has any drug interaction with any of your BP drugs.
Desloratadine sometimes can give rise to tachycardia but you are also taking Metolar XR (betablocker) to counter the effect.
You can omit atarax (hydroxyzine) for the time being as it is also antihistaminic.
Drugs and dosage are to be decided by your primary physician as without medical examination (detailed history & clinical examination) it won't be wise to recommend any medicine or alteration of any prescription. If you are not getting any relief ,you need to consult your doctor again for review.

Brief Answer:
?Viral fever-symptomatic treatment & addition of antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Desloratadine(Neoloridin 5mg) is H1 antihistamine and non-sedating,whereas Atarax (hydroxyzine ) is antihistamine (by suppression of activity in subcortical areas of CNS)-hence sedating.

Better for suspected viral fever take Desloratadine (Neoloridin 5mg) in place of Atarax.
Therapy in the form of first generation antihistamines is preferred in common upper respiratory viral infection but they are sedating-hence second generation drug like Desloratadine is prescribed.

Zocef (Cefuroxime ) has side effects. However it has no cardio-vascular side effects and the drug is mostly well-tolerated
