Is It Safe To Use Fen- Phen , Prozac And Lonamin Combination For GED And Weight Loss?
I do not have diabetes, high blood pressure, or - really - anything accept low Vitamin D. And - of course - my thyroid function is normal. I weight 250 lb, am 5 ft tall, and muscular (well, with carrying all that weight, I should be ;-) ). I am "thin" (size 8-10) at about 148-150 lbs. More of a broad-shouldered, gymnast type of build, with a flat stomach, muscular thighs and legs when I am at 150 lb.
Safest combination

Welcome to Health Care Magic
Hi,
The earlier drug you were consuming was "Fen-Phen" combination which is nothing but Fenfluramine (serotonergic agent) and Phentermine (NOradrenergic agent) combination. Lonamin is nothing but Phentermine (NOradrenergic agent) not combination but a single agent. Prozac is a drug used for General anxiety disorder which is Fluoxetine (Selective serotonin reuptake Inhibitor- SSRI).
The right thing done by your attending physician is he has retained Phentermine in the form of Lonamin since you were supposed to be started on Prozac.
In case the same combination of Fen- Phen + Prozac would have been continured, Prozac being serotonin inhibitor whereas Fenfluramine is a serotonergic agent would have had lots of side effects on you.
So the best thing the physician has done is to take you off from the earlier Fen-PHen combination and has put you on a single agent to reduce drug interaction with Prozac and thereby the side effects.
The current medication will have almost same effect as earlier ones and along with it reduces the side effects of this combination. Also Fenfluramine was shown to cause potentially fatal pulmonary hypertension and heart valve problems, which eventually led to its withdrawal whereas Phentermine was not shown to have harmful effects.
So you may safely use this combination with the same efficacy.

Take care.
