Is It Serious MRI That Showed I Have A Stress Fracture On The Left Hip?

default

Question: Dr. XXXXXXX I just had an MRI that showed I have a stress fracture on the left hip. Two questions. Does this heal on its own and also, I have a lot of pain putting pressure on that left leg but the pain does not seem to be coming from the hip but instead shooting through the groin muscle. Is this a normal reaction or do u feel something else is going on?

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Thanks for the query

Stress fracture of hip usually benefits from surgery to prevent a full blown fracture in the future as the bone is already partially broken. Stress fractures can heal on their own if care is taken to avoid excessive forces on the hip.

Groin pain is typical of hip problems like arthritis or even stress fractures so this is an expected finding in your case.

I hope I have answered your query.

Thanking you
